New York, NY (July 12, 2007) – On Friday, July 13th, the Time’s Up! Bicycle Clown Brigade made up of bicyclists dressed like clowns, will hand out facsimile tickets to motorists who violate NYC traffic law Section 4-08 (e), which explicitly prohibits parking, standing or stopping in bike lanes and carries a $115 fine. The Clowns will draw attention to what the NYPD should be doing: enforcing the laws that protect bicyclists.

The Bicycle Clown Brigade will also highlight the $500 million of federal monies that New York City will lose if a reluctant New York State Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver continues to oppose congestion pricing. During the ride the Bicycle Clowns will continually try to give a character portraying “Sheldon Silver” a large-sized $500 million check for NYC but he keeps ripping it up and throwing it away. Bicycle clown Barbara Ross explains, “Congestion pricing and enforcement are our best chances for fewer cars on the street and fewer cars in the bike lane.”
